Arlington Renegades Sign Brady Breeze, Carlton Johnson, Kellen Diesch

Renegades Sign Brady Breeze, Carlton Johnson, Kellen Diesch

The free agent signings are picking up quite a bit for the Arlington Renegades. In their latest batch, the Renegades have signed OT Kellen Diesch, DB Carlton Johnson, and S Brady Breeze. Additionally, they released RB Leddie Brown.

OT Kellen Diesch

The Renegades continue to make changes to their offensive line, and see that trend stay in line with the pickup of Kellen Diesch.

Diesch had a lengthy college career, one that began at Texas A&M. He was primarily a reserve with the Aggies, playing for a few seasons. He transferred to Arizona State, though, and immediately became a starter. Kellen ended up earning Second Team All-Pac-12 Conference honors during his final year.

This led to some NFL interest for Kellen. He signed with the Dolphins in 2022 as an UDFA. Since then, he’s had practice squad stints with the Bears, Steelers, Browns, Patriots, and Titans. After what’s been a busy couple of years in the NFL, Kellen now turns to the UFL to get his pro career back on track. With his past experience, he should be in a position to make a legitimate impact on this roster.

DB Carlton Johnson

Carlton Johnson is an exciting young pickup for Arlington’s secondary. He had a busy college career, moving around a few times. He began at Southern Utah, totaling 36 tackles and three interceptions across two seasons of action.

Then in 2021, Johnson made the move to Riverside CC, where he posted 45 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 PBU’s. This resulted in Carlton earning some interest from FBS schools – ultimately landing at Fresno State.

At Fresno State, Carlton Johnson notched 72 tackles, five interceptions, and 14 PBU’s – and was a Second Team All-Mountain West selection as a senior. This led to Johnson signing with the Seattle Seahawks as an UDFA. He had five tackles in three preseason games this past fall. Now, Johnson has the opportunity to get his professional career off the ground in the UFL, with Arlington.

S Brady Breeze

Finally, the Arlington Renegades signed Brady Breeze – who joins the team as one of the most intriguing pickups of their entire offseason.

Brady was a sixth round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans, back in 2021. He hardly saw the field there, though, and was moved to the Lions midway through the year. Breeze ended up totaling six tackles with Detroit that season.

Since then, Brady has had a difficult time seeing the field in the NFL. He was with the Lions for a couple more years, and also spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. Now, Breeze will have the chance to compete with Joe Powell, Myles Dorn, and Jamal Carter for the safety position.

Brady played his college football at Oregon, where he totaled 95 tackles and three interceptions. Brady was the 2020 Rose Bowl Defensive MVP after career-high 11 tackles, a forced fumble and fumble recovery for a score.

Final Thoughts

General Manager Rick Mueller has been on a roll this week. Yesterday, Arlington re-signed Tyler Vaughns – and brought in two offensive line prospects who are bound to make this unit better. The Renegades still have some work to do to finalize this roster, but the pieces are coming together.

In other news, RB Leddie Brown was released. Brown has been with Arlington the past two seasons, playing a major role in their XFL Championship victory over DC. Leddie had 250 scrimmage yards for the Renegades this past year, but didn’t find paydirt in the end zone. With a stacked RB room, Brown being released isn’t the biggest surprise.
