The UFL to NFL signings just keep on coming. On Tuesday, DC Defenders DE Boogie Basham and Birmingham Stallions LB Dyontae Johnson found homes, with the Commanders and Titans respectively.
DE Boogie Basham | DC > Washington
With a couple of the losses that DC had in their edge rusher room this past year, Shannon Harris brought in a big name. Boogie Basham, the former second round NFL draft pick with the Bills, landed with the Defenders.
With Basham on one side, and Derick Roberson on the other, DC saw success up front. Basham ended up being a key piece, starting in 11 of 12 games played this year. He racked up 25 tackles, eight defensive stops, two sacks, and 19 quarterback pressures.
Boogie was a second round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2021. He appeared in 23 games for the Bills, recording 4.5 sacks and an interception of Matthew Stafford.
Now, he’ll get another look in the NFL – staying local in DC. The Washington Commanders already roster Basham’s teammate in linebacker Curtis Jacobs. Both were Defenders this past UFL season.

The Birmingham Stallions have consistently had a talented linebacker room over the past several years. Dyontae Johnson was a perfect addition to that group, fitting right in alongside Kyahva Tezino and Tae Crowder.
Johnson started in one game this past season, appearing in every matchup. He played 217 snaps, racking up 30 tackles, 14 defensive stops, and an interception. He actually came away with the first turnover in the UFL this year.
Johnson was an UDFA signing with the New York Giants back in 2023, playing in a couple of games in 2024. Dyontae played his college football at Toledo, where he was a tackling machine – with 273 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss (TFLs), and 6.5 sacks to his name.
The Tennessee Titans have already looked to Birmingham’s defense in training camp. CB Mario Goodrich was signed by the team last month, already playing in both preseason games.
