Heading towards week four, the San Antonio Brahmas have made some moves. They signed RB Aidan Robbins and EDGE Nelson Ceaser – bringing depth to both rooms as they try to find a way to get back on track. In addition, WR Racey McMath was added to IR following a brutal leg injury suffered against Michigan.
RB Aidan Robbins
The Brahmas are dealing with a bit of injury-related issues in their backfield. Payton Pardee told us yesterday that Robbins was added because of availability, and the fact that not all three backs have been consistently healthy for San Antonio so far.
Aidan began his football career at Louisville, spending three seasons there. He didn’t see much action, though, rushing for just 51 yards and a score across that span.
He transferred to UNLV in 2022, which proved to be the right career move. That season, he rushed for 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns, starting in all 11 games.
Interestingly enough, he decided to make the jump to BYU for his final year of eligibility. Robbins started in seven of eight games played, totaling 485 rushing yards and a score. He spent some time with the Cleveland Browns during the 2024 preseason, with 61 rushing yards on 19 carries. Now, he’ll look to get his pro career off the ground in the UFL, with the Brahmas.
EDGE Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser is a great pickup at EDGE for a group that desperately needs a spark. They released Rashod Berry earlier this week, and it appears that Ceaser is his replacement.
Nelson played all of his college football at Houston. With the Cougars, he racked up 103 tackles, 18.5 sacks, and an interception. During his final season, Nelson posted 28 tackles and 9.5 sacks – dominating with the Cougars defensively.
This earned Nelson an NFL opportunity with the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent this past preseason. Ceaser had three tackles with Seattle across three games.
Nelson was with the DC Defenders this past UFL Training Camp, and was one of the young prospects who impressed. However, with the amount of talent DC has at the position (i.e. Malik Fisher, Andre Mintze, Derick Roberson) – there wasn’t enough room for Nelson this time around.
Now, he’ll look to get to work with DC Will Reed and this Brahmas defense, one that needs to see a turnaround sooner than later. It’s a solid pickup from GM Marc Lillibridge, and one that should prove to be beneficial moving forward.
Final Thoughts
Unfortunately, WR Racey McMath was placed on IR. He had a lower leg injury that was sustained in the second half of the game against Michigan, which occurred on special teams. Racey had one catch for eight yards on the year so far, but was a key piece on special teams – with four tackles and an 82.8 PFF Grade.
San Antonio will have a tough opponent ahead of them this week, hitting the road to take on the DC Defenders.
