On Monday, the United Football League’s (UFL) Colorado Stampede signed six players. These are all athletes who have attended a UFL showcase over the past few months, making them eligible to earn Training Camp opportunities prior to the draft on November 18th.
These are all young, talented pieces who bring physicality and high IQ play to both sides of the football. Let’s take a look at each signee, and what they bring to Rick Neuheisel’s Stampede.
QB Sawyer Robertson
The Stampede have their first quarterback of the 2027 cycle. With Austin Reed having signed with the Baltimore Ravens today as well, the door is wide open for Sawyer Robertson to be Colorado’s starter as we approach the spring.
Sawyer began his college career at Mississippi State, but put himself on the map once he transferred to Baylor. In 2024, Sawyer took over as the team’s starter. That year, he threw for over 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns, to just eight interceptions.
During the 2025 campaign, Robertson continued to showcase his talents. He racked up 3,681 yards in 12 games, to go along with 31 passing touchdowns. He isn’t the most mobile quarterback around, but Robertson did rush for over 300 yards during his collegiate career.
Robertson had plenty of NFL interest coming out of Baylor. He ended up attending mini-camps with the Raiders, Giants, and Broncos. While he didn’t end up signing a contract, Sawyer now lands in the UFL – a perfect place for him to develop. Sawyer was part of Jon Gruden’s latest quarterback series in 2026.
WR David Wallis
Rick Neuheisel was a big fan of Drake Stoops in the slot last year in Dallas, and now brings a similar prospect to the roster with David Wallis. At 6’0”, 184 lbs., Wallis is a wideout who thrives in the slot.
David has a pretty neat story. He spent his college days at the D3 level, playing for Randolph–Macon College. There, he was a Two-time First-Team All-ODAC selection – alongside earning VaSID First-Team All-State honors.
Over 42 games, Wallis compiled 3,144 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns – both of which are records at Randolph-Mason. David averaged a ridiculous 21.5 yards per reception. With his 4.40 speed, he completely dominated at this level with his route running abilities.
Coming out of college, Wallis was signed by the New England Patriots as an UDFA. He most recently spent time up north, playing for the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He had 64 return yards during his stint there.
OL Jacoby Jackson
Jacoby Jackson is an accomplished, versatile offensive lineman who makes his way to Colorado. Neuheisel is in need of linemen, especially with the retirement of Keaton Sutherland.
Jackson brings physical tenacity, positional flexibility, and size to the table. At 6’6”, 320 lbs., his measurables jumped out on tape while attending a UFL showcase last month.
Jacoby began his college career at Texas Tech, appearing in 28 games across three seasons. During the 2023 season, he allowed just five quarterback pressures while seeing 303 snaps on offense across 13 games.
From there, Jackson made his way to Mississippi State. He was primarily a starter across that span, and showed his ability to play guard and tackle at a high level. In May, Jacoby was invited to rookie mini-camp with the Green Bay Packers.
EDGE Diwun Black
Physical prospects are exactly what Neuheisel is looking for up front. Diwun Black fits the mold, with plenty of experience that make him an exciting pickup heading towards March. Diwun began his college career at Florida, seeing rotational playing time at linebacker with the Gators. He notably was a special teams contributor, recovering an onsides kick in 2022.
In 2023, Black made the move to Temple. That change of scenery allowed him to transition into more of an edge rushing role, and he flourished. Diwun recorded 52 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks during his two year stint with the Owls.
Diwun Black has been in the professional rotation for a couple of years. After signing with the Ravens as an UDFA, he went up north to Montreal in the CFL for several months. Recently, Black had a tryout with the 49ers.
LB Cam Bright
Cam Bright is a bit different than the rest of the signees here. Bright is a veteran, having played his last snap of college ball back in 2022.
Cam played with the Pittsburgh Panthers from 2017-2021. He was a Team Captain in 2021, as the team won the ACC Championship, reaching the Peach Bowl. Bright racked up over 180 tackles while in Pittsburgh.
In 2022, Bright decided to transfer to Washington for his final year of eligibility. With the Huskies, he started in all 13 games – totaling 60 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and an interception. Throughout his collegiate career, Cam had nearly 250 tackles, 29.5 TFL, and 12 sacks to his name.
Cam signed with the Seahawks as an UDFA in 2023, which led to a quick stop with the Browns. Since then, he’s been across the country – with trips up north to the CFL, along with a stint in the Indoor Football League this past spring and summer.
LB Marvin Pierre
If you want athleticism at the linebacker position, call Marvin Pierre. That’s exactly what Neuheisel did, bringing the versatile LB to the roster ahead of the draft. Marvin impressively had a 9.08 Relative Athletic Score coming out of college, running a 4.57 40 yard dash – and dazzling with his 40.5” vertical.
Pierre began his collegiate days at a pair of community colleges, before finally finding a home in the FCS with Murray State – logging 29 tackles, a sack, and a pick six that year. Marvin exploded during his tenure at Kent State in 2021 and 2022 to close out his career, with nearly 150 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles across that span.
Interestingly enough, Pierre had a quick stint in 2024 in the UFL, with the San Antonio Brahmas. He has since been in the Indoor Football League. Now, he gets another opportunity in professional spring football, this time in Colorado.
Final Thoughts
The United Football League’s supplemental draft will take place on November 18th and 19th. Until then, UFL teams can only sign players who have attended a showcase. For Neuheisel and the brand new Stampede, they’ve picked up an impressive core of players to kickstart the roster construction heading towards 2027.
Notably, Sawyer Robertson and Jacoby Jackson could be immediate starters in 2027 based off of very, very early projections.
