Winston Moss fills key roles for XFL Los Angeles

We’ve seen staffing additions from New York and Washington DC so far this week, now LA is making some hires of their own. Head Coach/General Manager Winston Moss has filled five key assistant roles with this latest hiring wave, some of which we’ve already reported on.

XFL Los Angeles has added Jerry Fontenot as QL Asst, David Atkins as RB Asst, Michael Wilson as WR Asst and Vincent Amey ad DL Asst.

Fontenot  former center who for the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and Cincinnati Bengals. He has also served as an assistant offensive line coach and tight ends coach for the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2015.

After Atkins finished his pro playing career with the 49ers and Chargers, he moved into coaching. He had spells as offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals and was the senior offensive assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns for two seasons, 2005 – 2007.

Wilson began his coaching career at Stanford from 1992-94 where he coached wide receivers and tight ends on the staff of former 49ers coach Bill Walsh, followed by two seasons as wide receivers coach of the Oakland Raiders (1995–96). From 1997 to 1999 he served as wide receivers coach at USC.

After four years in private business (2000–03) Wilson joined the Arizona Cardinals as tight ends coach in 2004. From 2005-06 he coached the Cardinals wide receivers.

Wilson was the wide receivers coach for the Las Vegas franchise of the United Football League, while helping the team win two championships. He was the Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach from 2011 to 2012.

Amey played college football at Arizona State and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (230th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft. He also played for the Las Vegas Outlaws in the first iteration of the XFL. He has also spent time in NFL Europe with the Frankfurt Galaxy, where he won the World Bowl in 1999. From there he went to play in the Arena Football League with the Los Angeles Avengers and the Arizona Rattlers. As we mentioned above, his last and most recent stop was in San Diego for the AAF in the same role he is taking with the XFL.
