The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of free agent wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud Friday morning and also announced a reciprocal move. Former Los Angeles Wildcats wide receiver Saeed Blacknell had been released from the team.

Blacknall signed with the Steelers in April after playing in the Los Angeles Wildcats during the XFL’s shortened 2020 season. In his three games played in in the XFL, Blacknall caught four passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as an un-drafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2018, playing only one game with the team before being cut.
According to the release by the Steelers Blacknall was cut to make room for McCloud on the roster. It’s unfortunate to see, but we’re hoping to see Blacknall get picked up by another team here in the near future. We fully expect to see more former XFL stars get tryouts and signed by NFL teams as we get closer to kickoff.
