SJ Green Traded to Tampa Bay Vipers

SJ Green Traded to Tampa Bay Vipers

It was pretty huge news a couple weeks back when SJ Green decided to sign with the XFL when his CFL contract had expired. At the time, we had expected him to land up in Tampa Bay, only for him to picked up off the waivers by Jim Zorn and the Seattle Dragons.

Well, we weren’t too off the mark… SJ Green has just been traded to the Tampa Bay Vipers from the Dragons in exchange for LB, Korey Toomer.

Green previously played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League alongside Vipers coach, Marc Trestmen. Green was signed by the Montreal Alouettes as a free agent in 2007 and played with the them for 10 seasons (2007 – 2016). Green was previously a member of the New York Jets and played college football at South Florida.

This may just be the spark the Vipers need. Tampa Bay is playing their first home game this weekend against the undefeated Houston Roughnecks at Raymond James Stadium. As we’ve seen, trades move fast in the XFL… Anthony Johnson was traded to the DC Defenders last Friday and played with the team Saturday in the early game.

Chances are, we may see SJ Green suited up in the green this weekend, and I bet Trestmen is hoping that’s the case. The Vipers are in dire need of a win, and what better way to do that than at home against one of the two undefeated teams in the league.
