Ryan Mallett to attend XFL Tampa Bay Summer Showcase

Ryan Mallett Reportedly Arrested On DWI

Former Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Ryan Mallett is back in the news for the wrong reasons.

According to a report from 4029 News, Mallett was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The report detailed Mallett had a blood-alcohol level of .08 – the legal limit.

Here’s more from the report:

Former Arkansas quarterback, Ryan Mallett, was arrested on Suspicion of DWI in Springdale Tuesday night, according to Lt. Jeff Taylor with Springdale Police.

Lt. Taylor said officers responded to an accident near the intersection of New Hope and 112 around 6:23 p.m.

Mallett was taken into custody just before 7:00 p.m.

The New England Patriots drafted the former college star in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft. He floated around the league, starting several games for the Houston Texans and, most recently, the Baltimore Ravens.

He recently accepted an invite to the upcoming XFL draft in October. Mallett competed in the XFL’s Summer Showcase in Tampa Bay earlier this year as well.

This is definitely bad timing, to say the least. When Vince McMahon forst announced the XLF he stated that they weren’t interested in players with criminal records. The league has since backed away from that position, but this may be one issue too many.
