The Case for Jeffrey Pollack Becoming the Next XFL Commissioner

Jeffrey Pollack Steps Down as XFL President and CEO

It’s been a while since we’ve had any official news out of the XFL. Today that streak comes to and. Unfortunately, it may not be the news you’re looking for.

Ben Fisher of Sports Business Journal reports that Jeffrey Pollack will be leaving his role as President and CEO of the XFL.

XFL President & CEO Jeffrey Pollack has left the league as its owners continue to chart a new path toward a relaunch, sources said. Pollack referred questions to a spokesperson, who declined comment. The future of the defunct league remains unclear after its bankruptcy under former Owner Vince McMahon and acquisition out of bankruptcy by Dwyane The Rock” JohnsonDany Garcia and RedBird Capital Partners in August ’20. Shortly after that deal was announced, the new owners said he would remain.

This news may come as a shock to our readers, but as we understand it this has been in the works for a while now. RedBird Capital are on the hunt for a replacement for Pollack, and have seemingly pinpointed a few potential suiters.

When it comes to who will take the role, that’s anyone’s guess. As for title, that’s something different. It looks as if RedBird Capital is expected to replace Jeffrey Pollack with someone who will essentially serve as President and Commissioner.

Pollack joined the XFL as President and COO on January 19, 2019. He served in this position during the shortened 2020 season and became one of the few remaining employees after the league filed for bankruptcy.

His role until now was to ensure that the sale from Vince McMahon to Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird went smoothly. With the XFL targeting a 2023 return, it looks as if the back office may be making some final touches before the gears kick into motion.

We’ll keep you posted as more updates on this story and Pollack’s replacement come in.
