Just yesterday we reported that June Jones was doing some coach scouting during his trip to the Grey Cup. Similar to the Josh Johnson situation, the XFL has reportedly denied permission to the Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) to speak to Jamie Elizondo in regards to their coaching vacancy.
The #XFL has denied permission for the #Eskimos to speak to Jamie Elizondo about their head cosching vacancy. I believe he would have been the favorite to land the job. Tough break for him after not being allowed to speak to #Riders before this past season. @CFLonTSN@CFLpic.twitter.com/Bupp7d22Kw
Elizondo was previously the Offensive Coordinator for the Redblacks before joining Marc Trestmen in Tampa Bay to fill the same role. In my opinion, people shouldn’t be surprised that the XFL would hold people to their contract. Especially in the building stages. The AAF had run into very similar situations prior to kickoff last year with the opposite results, and ultimately the league suffered because of the losses.
