There’s no doubt that the XFL of 2020 exceeded many expectations. Had it not been for COVID, we’re positive the league would still be standing.
At the moment, the league is in new hands after it was purchased out of bankruptcy by Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird Capital. The group is in the works to reboot the XFL in 2023, but news is scarce.
Although the XFL has new owners, there’s still some business being handled from the closure. A huge item on that list is the compensation that is slated to go out to all the former players. It seems like seems may be moving on that front.
Yesterday, former DC Defenders linemen Logan Tuley-Tillman tweeted “Former XFL guys make sure you check your email” and to “call to make sure they had the right info”.

When someone asked if this was in regards to the return, Tuley-Tillman clarified that this was concerning the bankruptcy checks.

We don’t know the full timeline of how the checks will rollout, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
That being said, it’s good to see some money going back to these guys. Even though it’s a little later than a lot of them would have hoped.
Since the XFL was forced into bankruptcy we’ve seen the spring football landscape change a bit. With the absence of the XFL we’ve seen the birth of Fan Controlled Football (FCF), The Spring League get a full televised season and now the return of the USFL in 2022.
