All Eight USFL Teams Officially Revealed on The Herd

Player Pool Will Not Be Released Prior To USFL Draft

This has been a big week for the USFL, but possibly not as big as the week that follows. Feb 22-23 the league will host their inaugural draft, where each team will build their roster over 35 rounds. Just earlier today the league released details on the how the draft would be structured, and when the event would take place over the two-day period.

One big question on everyone’s mind going into the draft was if the USFL would release the player pool. Thanks to PFT, we have an answer. They’re reporting that the league does not intend to release the names of the players that will be up for grabs next week.

The USFL won’t be disclosing the list of available players in advance of the draft. Thus, we won’t know who they are until their names are called next week.

Some may be upset by this; but truth be told, it was expected. This week on The USFL Podcast, the gang went into detail on the upcoming draft, in which they expressed their belief that it wouldn’t be released prior to the event.

The good news is, the USFL team accounts will be updating us live during the draft announcing the picks as they come in. Additionally, we’ll be updating the USFL Newsroom Draft Tracker live as well.

We many not know the names, but we do know the draft order. Thursday, during the roll-out of the uniforms it was announced that the USFL Draft Lottery would be televised on SFY the same day. The show kicked off at 3pm ET, and shortly after the first hour concluded the hosts gave the USFL fans what they’ve been waiting for. The draft order.

1. Michigan Panthers
2. Tampa Bay Bandits
3. Philadelphia Stars
4. New Jersey Generals
5. Houston Gamblers
6. Birmingham Stallions
7. Pittsburgh Maulers
8. New Orleans Breakers

At the time we didn’t know how the draft was going to work, but the league surprised fans earlier today detailing the order for each round of the event.

We may not know which players are available, but it won’t be long until we know who’ll be playing this April.

Which players would you like to see drafted next week? Let us know down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.
