Possible USFL Teams and New Trademarks filed Ahead of Announcement

Final Two USFL Head Coaches Revealed Live on The Herd

The time has finally arrived, all eight USFL head coaches have now all been officially revealed. Each of the announcements came via The Herd, which makes sense as FOX is a majority owner of the new league. The USFL and The Herd have had a good working relationship ever since the league started their marketing efforts.

First, Colin Cowherd was tasked with announcing the new team names and logos. Then, spread out over four episodes, we learned who would be taking the reins for each franchise. Going into this episode, fans didn’t know that we’d hear the the coaches until minutes before it hit the air. This is when the USFL broke the news on social media, giving us another announcement in what has already been a big week for the league.

This past Tuesday the USFL held a media event at Protective Stadium where they officially announced that Birmingham, AL would serve as the leagues HQ in 2022. This will see the city host all eight franchises for the first season, and as many as four in 2023.

Going into the shows third hour, Colin Cowherd made the news official. Jeff Fisher will be joining on as the Michigan Panthers head coach, with Larry Fedora taking the job for the New Orleans Breakers.

With final two USFL coaches revealed, the picture is now complete.

Now that all the coaches are set, they move towards the player selection meeting in late February. Over two days, each team will select 45 players filling out their 38-man active roster and 7-man practice squad.

The league recently brought in Jim Popp to run the player administration side of the business, essentially putting him in charge of the draft and transactions throughout the season.

We’re under three months to go until the USFL kicks off, and everyday we’re watching them build the new product from the ground-up. For all intents and purposes, the league is seemingly being built to survive.
