Brandon Silvers Reportedly set for USFL Supplemental Draft

Last week the USFL held their inaugural draft where each team started the process to build out their rosters for the upcoming season. When the league released information on the draft process, they also revealed that they would hold a supplementary draft March 10th, shortly before training camp is set to begin on March 21st.

Yesterday, Adam Schefter tweeted that the USFL was planning to hold a combine March 19-20, which naturally confused many as the draft has already taken place. Shortly after we confirmed with league sources that the event is less of a combine and more of an open tryout for players that didn’t get a look in the first go-around.

Considering that the USFL did not release their player pool prior to the main draft, we expected that we wouldn’t see it for the supplemental draft as well. But, with the event around the corner we have secured one major name that is reportedly in the pool.

According to our source, Brandon Silvers is set to be in the supplemental draft as he was not listed in the original draft and is planning to play in the USFL this season. They also tell us that they have confirmed with multiple coaches on different teams that he was not listed, but had plans on picking him up. Looking forward to March, it seems very likely that we see him picked up in the supplemental draft.

If there’s a spring football league, Brandon Silvers has played there. He’s spent time with the Memphis Express of the AAF, Seattle Dragons of the XFL and most recently the Conquerors of The Spring League. Last season Silvers had the highest passer rating in The Spring League, throwing 9 touchdowns and only 1 interception.

Training camp hasn’t even begun, and it seems the quarterback competition in the USFL is already heating up.
