Pep Hamilton Reportedly Headed to Chargers as QB Coach

Houston Texans Promote Pep Hamilton to Offensive Coordinator

In the leadup to the 2020 XFL season we saw the league announce their head coaches one by one. When it came to the DC Defenders, we saw Pep Hamilton come in to take the reigns for the franchise.

During his time with the Defenders in their short season, he led the team to a 3-2 record before COVID shuttered operations.

Since then, he has served as QB Coach for the Los Angeles Rams and most recently the Houston Texans.

Many XFL fans have been on the edges of their seats waiting for news after co-owner Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson promised news would be coming in about 2-3 weeks… over three weeks ago. Regardless, we know when the XFL plans on hitting the field again, so we expect that you’ll know their big plans sooner rather than later.

With the league expected to announce their broadcast partner and new teams/cities in the near future, fans are looking forward to when the XFL will be holding their showcases this summer. Naturally, before the combines the league will fill their vacant head coaching spots.

For those hoping we may see Pep Hamilton return to DC to lead the Defenders, it looks as if he’s secured a new spot.

Under the Texans new head coach, Lovie Smith, Hamilton will be promoted to offensive coordinator.

This is great news for Pep, and we love seeing any of the former XFL alumni get their recognition; on and off the field.

It is unfortunate that we won’t see Hamilton in the XFL when it returns next year, but he’s secured himself a nice gig in Houston.

As for the XFL news that should be coming soon, stay tuned to XFL Newsroom for the latest as it comes in.
