XFL Mentioned During Young Rock Season 2 Premiere

If you haven’t been following along, the XFL has a new set of owners. After the league was forced into bankruptcy due to COVID, is was purchased by Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird Capital for roughly $5M.

Naturally, this brought a lot of attention as Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest Hollywood stars and seems to be involved in a little bit of everything. One of his side projects happens to be a sitcom based on his early live; Young Rock.

Rounding out the first season, it shows Johnson coming out of college and heading to the CFL after not being picked in the NFL draft. Last night, season 2 premiered and we saw our first mention of the duos new football company; the XFL.

The new XFL ownership group is currently ramping up towards a 2023 return, and this can only help them in their goal. Young Rock airs on NBC, which coincidently is home to the XFL’s main competitor; the USFL.

The sitcom was the networks most watch comedy last year, and has the potential to hold the crown again this season. Needless to say, it’s great to see the XFL get some more exposure. Maybe one day, in the future, we’ll get some more XFL references on the show.
