Wildcats Fire DC Pepper Johnson After 1 Game

Wildcats Fire DC Pepper Johnson After 1 Game

Over the weekend Los Angeles lost their debut match-up against the Houston Roughnecks. This seems to have led to a few quick changes from Coach Moss. First, we learned that he had cut the teams defensive captain, Anthony Johnson; which surprised a lot of people online. Johnson is still looking to play, hoping another team picks him up off the waivers.

This wasn’t the only change though. Rumors started to swirl online that the franchise had let go of defensive coordinator and line backers coach, Pepper Johnson. With it being only one game into the season it was difficult to believe. Shortly after, we were able to confirm with folks near the organization that indeed, the team had parted ways with Pepper.

Regardless of how you look at the situation, Coach Moss is a man that doesn’t want to fail and if he does, he wants to fail fast. In my opinion, we can expect a lot of adjustments out of the organization going into week 2 when they take on Dallas in their first home game. Only time will tell if these adjustments will work.

UPDATE: Coach Winston Moss has since commented on the situation”

“We recognize that there are issues we need to address for the 2020 season. While these decisions are difficult, we have given this significant thought. We are here to put the best possible product on the field for our fans. We thank Pepper for his contributions to the Wildcats and we are looking forward to our home opener this weekend.” – Winston Moss
