Washington Commanders Sign DC Defenders LB Curtis Jacobs

It’s about time. On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders signed DC Defenders linebacker Curtis Jacobs – keeping him in the District.

Jacobs has, quite literally, worked out for over 10 teams this past cycle. It was only a matter of time before he found a home in the NFL – and now he does in Washington.

Curtis joined the UFL this year as an offseason addition. He ended up being a key piece to a DC defense that played very well. Jacobs had 50 tackles, a sack, and 23 defensive stops on the year. He posted a strong 75.0 Defensive Grade via PFF.

Collegiately, Curtis played at Penn State. There, he racked up 174 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and a pair of interceptions. This led to an opportunity with the New England Patriots, appearing in nine regular season games in 2024. He also spent time with the Titans, appearing in three games during 2025.

Jacobs is a quietly underrated pickup by Washington. He already has NFL experience, and is fresh off a productive UFL campaign. If he can do enough through a few preseason games, don’t be surprised if Curtis ends up on their practice squad.
