Vince McMahon sells more WWE stock ahead of Earnings Report

Vince McMahon Reportedly Spent $200 Million to Re-Boot the XFL

Last month, The Athletic had published an article saying that XFL creditors believed that XFL founder Vince McMahon was attempting to buy back the league at a “fire-sale price.” These reports came after he decided to declare Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Since then, we have confirmed from sources close to the subject that this is not the case at all. Regardless, the XFL seems to have plenty of interested parties in bringing the league back for a 2021 season.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that with all the costs involved in re-booting the XFL, Vince McMahon actually spent around $200 million. It was reported that McMahon had set aside $500 million to keep the league afloat for three seasons.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league was forced to suspend the season halfway through, which led to a huge loss in revenue for the company. As we stated above, the league is currently going through bankruptcy court and we should know if the league is purchased and by who in early August.

From recent reports it seems that a number of the parties interested in bringing the XFL back in 2021 are more than capable to get the ball running. Looking at these numbers, everyone is secretly hoping that the new owners have very deep pockets.
