The second week of the USFL just wrapped up, and things are finally starting to come together. Prior to kickoff, the league revealed that they would be setting the television schedule on a week-to-week basis starting after each team had a primetime showing.
Week three was set early by the league, but it looks like an adjustment has been made prior to this upcoming weekend. @NewsUSFL on Twitter notes that the matchup between the undefeated Birmingham Stallions and New Orleans Breakers have been moved into Saturday nights FOX broadcast.
Schedule Change: The New Orleans Breakers will play the Birmingham Stallions (both 2-0) on Fox at 8pm EST Saturday night instead of Sunday at 2:30 on USA. The game originally in that slot, PIT vs MI, will play on Sunday at 2:30, USA.
Originally the 8pm slot was to be occupied by the Pittsburgh Maulers and Michigan Panthers. Although the Maulers put up a fight in week two they couldn’t do enough to get one over on the Stars. The Panthers didn’t fare too well in their outing against the Generals either. Now, the two will faceoff Sunday at 2:30pm EST on USA.
Starting in week four, the top teams will fill the showcase broadcasts on FOX and NBC. This will ensure that theirs a higher likelihood that the biggest broadcasts will see the most competitive matchups. This also adds another element to the USFL schedule, as teams are going to compete for those top spots.
