USFL K Brandon Aubrey Signs With Dallas Cowboys

USFL K Brandon Aubrey Signs With Dallas Cowboys

With USFL season two in the rearview mirror, athletes are already beginning to make their way to the NFL. Brandon Aubrey, kicker for the Birmingham Stallions for the last two years, has been signed by the Dallas Cowboys ahead of training camp.

Aubrey is the first USFL to NFL signing of the offseason so far, with plenty more to come. Brandon deserves this opportunity without a doubt, having been an excellent kicker for the Stallions through two seasons.

Brandon Aubrey has a remarkable story. He was a standout soccer player at Notre Dame, eventually making his way to the MLS, where he played for the Philadelphia Union and the Toronto FC.

He then decided to take a leap of faith to professional football, landing with the Birmingham Stallions in the inaugural 2022 USFL draft. Aubrey did not disappoint, as he turned out to be one of the most consistent kickers in modern league history.

USFL Career

In 2022, Brandon Aubrey earned All-USFL honors, as one of the top kickers in the league. He led the USFL with 76 points on FGA, finishing the season with an 18-22 stat-line. In addition, he was 22-24 on XP’s made.

One could argue that his campaign in 2023 was even stronger. Aubrey posted 77 total points, going 35-35 on XP’s – and, 14/15 on field goal attempts. His only miss was from beyond 50 yards out.

Throughout the last two seasons, Brandon has been consistent – and clutch – for the Birmingham Stallions. He made major contributions to the team winning back-to-back USFL titles.

A New Chapter

Now, Brandon Aubrey begins a new chapter in his career, making it to the NFL for the first time. He now has an opportunity to not only land, but also to stick with the Dallas Cowboys.

As of right now, the only other kicker on the Cowboys roster is Tristan Vizcaino. Tristan has only played 10 NFL games in his career, going 10-15 on PAT’s and 11-12 on field goals with a long of 47.

Regardless of what ultimately happens, it’s encouraging to see USFL players consistently being provided with NFL opportunities year after year.

Brandon Aubrey has proven that he’s certainly deserving of this moment. Had it not been for the platform – and the national exposure – that the USFL provided him with, who knows if this opportunity would have come along.
