As we roll into 2022, there’s a lot of work that the USFL needs to complete before they kickoff in April. Naturally, they’ll need coaches, but even more importantly, players.
It’s been reported that the league is targeting March 1st to begin their training camps, giving the eight teams roughly six weeks to learn their respective systems. This may not seem like a lot of time, but in fact it’s more than most spring leagues have afforded in the past.
With the training camps and kickoff timelines known, many have asked about the USFL’s plans for a draft. Well, it seems like we finally have some news on that from.
Philly Stars Blog on Twitter reports that the USFL will hold a draft around mid-February.
We also decided to do some digging and we were able to independently confirm the story. We’re told that the USFL will hold the draft in the final week, so the dates are shifted a bit, but it looks as if the draft is definitely on for February.

Since we first started hearing reports of the USFL working with Jefferson County to host their inaugural season, we’ve seen a constant barrage of news. As we roll into 2022, it’s expected that the news drops will be even more consistent.
We’re only one day into the new year, and we already have major news.
We’re still waiting on official word that Birmingham will house the leagues central hub, and there’s a lot of fans online chomping at the bit to learn who the coaches will be.
Either way, we’ve made it to 2022 and the leadup to the USFL season is definitely on!
