Over the past few days, UFL Training Camp has gotten fully underway. In that process, there have been several notable names who haven’t reported, deciding to opt out of the UFL route.
Let’s take a look at who some of those releases include.
Columbus Aviators
DE Amare Barno
DE Isaiah Thomas
EDGE Kris Bogle
EDGE Nelson Ceaser
MLB J.B. Brown
The Columbus Aviators are absolutely gutted when it comes to their edge rusher room. They’ve lost four of them over the past couple of days, including Nelson Ceaser who made a few starts for the San Antonio Brahmas a season ago.
Amare Barno, Isaiah Thomas, and Kris Bogle were all newcomers to the UFL. Each were exciting prospects in their own regard, but it appears that despite being drafted by Columbus – they will not be playing in the UFL, at least as of right now.
Linebacker J.B. Brown is another tough loss, given his resume. Brown is a tackling machine, and would have been positioned to start for this Columbus defense.
DC Defenders
TE Briley Moore
CB Deandre Baker
S Trey Dean III
#Defenders TE and fan-favorite Briley Moore was 50-50 on retirement this offseason; no announcement has been made, but it's trending that direction with his removal.

The DC Defenders also have lost a few key pieces. Briley Moore, a fan-favorite tight end, seems to be leaning towards retirement as he was removed from the roster. DC had quite literally just traded Patrick Jenkins to get Briley back earlier this month.
Meanwhile, All-UFL cornerback Deandre Baker did not report to camp, and it appears the same can be said for safety Trey Dean III. Baker needs no introduction, as a former second round NFL draft pick. He’s been stellar for DC in the UFL. Dean, while a late addition last year, made an immediate impact – with a game sealing interception in the playoffs vs. St. Louis.
Houston Gamblers
The Gamblers lost CB Isaiah Dunn, who was originally slated to be one of their stronger cornerbacks in that secondary. Dunn runs a 4.38 40 – and would have been very helpful to have with all of the speedy receivers this league features.
Dallas Renegades
Dallas saw CB D.J. James removed from their roster as well. He’s another speedy corner (4.40 40), who had a lot of collegiate success at Auburn and Oregon.
Final Thoughts
With training camp getting into gear, these roster moves are not entirely surprising. Since the UFL re-drafted the entire league, we expected that some drafted players simply wouldn’t show up.
