Three Offensive Linemen Sign UFL Contracts

Three Offensive Linemen Sign UFL Contracts

On Monday, we saw a few UFL transactions go down surrounding offensive linemen. The Birmingham Stallions, Arlington Renegades, and DC Defenders all signed an offensive lineman, boosting the trenches with camp fully in operation.

C Briason Mays | Arlington Renegades

This signing is a bit of a “full circle” moment here in camp. Mays was originally a UFL College Draft pick by the Renegades, but he ended up having his rights rescinded, so he could sign with San Antonio. Over the weekend, San Antonio released him, and now he ends up in Arlington after all – just as originally planned.

Briason played his college football at West Virginia for a couple of years, starting in 11 of 15 games played there. Mays is someone who’s got plenty of experience at multiple positions, switching between tackle and center for WVU.

He transferred to Southern Miss in 2021, which continued the same trend. Briason primarily played center, but also would appear as a starting tackle in a game at times. With the Golden Eagles, Mays started in 25 of 33 games played. Mays had an NFL opportunity with the 49ers last summer, and now is looking to get his pro career off the ground in the UFL.

OG Grant Miller | Birmingham Stallions

The Birmingham Stallions continue to load up on NFL-caliber talent. They just signed OG Grant Miller, who brings a couple of years of NFL experience to the table, with the Los Angeles Rams.

Miller began his college career at Vanderbilt, spending three seasons there (four including redshirting as a freshman). He worked his way into a full-time starting role across his last couple of years at Vandy. Miller was primarily starting at center during his time at Vanderbilt.

He then transferred to Baylor for his final couple of seasons. Grant made the switch to right guard with the Bears, and earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2022. He was one of the top guards in the nation, which led to an NFL stint with the Rams. Grant was with Los Angeles from 2023-2024 on their practice squad, but now looks to find his footing in the pro scene with Birmingham.

C Johari Branch | DC Defenders

The DC Defenders are stacking up on offensive linemen. After signing center Charles Turner over the weekend, the Defenders have brought in center Johari Branch – who is a familiar face in the DMV’s football scene.

Branch had an extensive college career, having played in a few locations. He began at Eastern Illinois, starting in 7 of 11 games played there. Johari then moved to East Independence CC, spending a year at the JUCO level.

In 2020, Johari made his way to Maryland, playing there for three years. He was a starter the entire time, serving Maryland with excellent play at center. This led to an NFL opportunity with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.

Most recently, Johari was a part of the IFL’s Massachussettes Pirates, and was one of the top linemen in the indoor scene. He was on the All-Rookie team a year ago. Now, he gets the chance to return to professional 11-on-11 football, and should fit in well with what Von Hutchins and the DC Defenders look for.
