The Spring League Week 2 Preview

The Spring League Week 2 Preview

Last week The Spring League returned with two extra teams and a new expanded deal with FOX. For the first time in league history, every game of the season is set to be televised on either FOX, FS1 or FS2. TSL’s FOX debut last weekend between the Jousters and Generals drew a solid 380,000 viewers. This week, the league looks to build upon that number.

This weeks action was originally supposed to start Friday May 14th, but earlier this week The Spring League announced that the games were moving to Monday night. Both games will still air on FS1 at the same times as scheduled on Friday.

North Division

Kicking off week two will be The Spring League’s North Division.

Conquerors vs Alphas

First up is a battle between the two undefeated teams in the North. The Conquerors will be taking on the Alphas, and it looks to be a good one. Last week, Blake Morgan and Brian Burt showcased their ground game for the Alphas. Both ran for over 100-yards and collectively secured three touchdowns for their team. The Conquerors also came out on top of their opponents with strong defense and great coaching.

This will also mark the second time that the league will be televised on FOX.

Aviators vs Linemen

Unlike the first matchup, the second game features two teams looking to secure their first win. Both the Aviators and Linemen played well last weekend, but in the end they couldn’t overcome their opponents. The Aviators will be coming to the party with duel-threats at QB, both Keller Chryst and Seth Suida look to build upon their week one performances. Hal Mumme, leading the charge for the Linemen, will look to get solidify the action on his end.

South Division

Although the games have been re-scheduled, we’re getting Monday Night Football in the spring.

Sea Lions vs Generals

Kicking off the action on Monday night is possibly the most anticipated matchup of the week. The un-defeated Generals will take on the Sea Lions who will be looking to grab their first win. Not to mention, former Super Bowl Champion Brandon Marshall will be making his debut for the Generals this week.

The Sea Lions came up short in a close game last week, and Coach Kirskey will look to get some production out of his running and receiving teams. The Generals will look to continue their winning ways with Ryan Mallett showing the world that he belongs in pro football.

Blues vs Jousters

The last game of the week is a late one, especially if you live on the east coast and work early. That being said, it looks like it will be worth the loss of sleep. The quarterback whisperer Kevin Gilbride will look to get the Jousters their first win, and we expect to see playing time from both Luis Perez and Drew Anderson as we did last week. The Blues will want to end the week the same way they started, with zero losses. We expect to see some great defense with Ted Cotrell drawing up the plays, but don’t sleep on their offense either.

10:00 ET on FS1 – Streaming
