In April, the new XFL ownership group did away with the old branding and revealed a fresh logo to go with the leagues new direction. It was received with mixed reactions, but none as loudly amplified as Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird. They claim that the XFL’s X logo is too similar to their Togethxr brand.
Within 24 hours of the reveal Megan Rapinoe took to Twitter to share her displeasure, and subsequently announced that they’d be filing a cease and desist.

Nearly two months later, the lawsuit has been officially filed. The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ Sports, was filed on earlier today by Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe’s Togetxr.
In the lawsuit, TOGETHXR — a media org. co-founded by Bird, Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim and Simone Manuel — says the football league’s logo, which was debuted on April 6, looks and feels “confusingly similar to TOGETHXR’s brand and logo.”
When the due first started talks of litigation, Sue Bird posted a clip from the XFL brand reveal video, showing the new “X” surrounding the word “together”.

Interestingly enough, since the lawsuit has been filed the XFL has re-uploaded the reveal package, ultimately removing this reference.
Will this lawsuit force the new XFL ownership to change their logo, most likely not. They may need to adjust their messaging, and possibly a payday is in order, but we don’t expect to see them reverting or creating another logo.
