It’s been a busy week for teams in the USFL. The Birmingham Stallions had to bring in QB Jalen Morton, as their quarterback room continues to get pummeled with injury. Meanwhile, the Memphis Showboats made a swap at DT with four games left to play in the UFL season.
Jalen Morton | Birmingham Stallions
Unfortunately for the Stallions, they cannot avoid injuries to their quarterbacks. It’s getting out of hand at this point, as Andrew Peasley was hurt during the win against San Antonio, and is likely done for the rest of the season.
In his place is Jalen Morton, who returns to Birmingham after spending the last couple of years in the arena scene. Morton is no stranger to a Skip Holtz-led team, having been with Birmingham in 2023 when they won their second straight Championship. Morton was QB2 behind Alex McGough that year.
Morton has been playing lights out in the AF1 for the Southwest Kansas Storm. He’s a mobile quarterback, who isn’t afraid to use his legs to make things happen. With the chaos that is the Stallions QB room, Jalen Morton now makes his way back to Birmingham to serve as QB3.
Memphis Showboats Swap DT’s
Cut P.J. Hall
Re-Sign Dillon Faamatau
In what came as a surprise move, the Memphis Showboats released starting DT P.J. Hall. Hall has played in four games for the Showboats this year, with 17 tackles and a sack to his name. Hall was consistently one of the highest PFF graded players on the team, with an 86.2 overall grade in 2025.
P.J. Hall!! Are you kidding me?
What a play by @Pjjwatt – on his birthday, nonetheless – to hold DC to a field goal.

Disappointingly, off-field issues have come into play for Hall and his future with the Showboats. We’re told that his release isn’t because of his performance on the field, but rather due to ongoing circumstances behind the scenes. Losing Hall is a tough loss up front, as Memphis already saw John Atkins season come to an end.
In his place is Dillon Faamatau, who returns to Memphis after being let go prior to training camp’s kickoff. Faamatau made it seem as if he was planning on retiring, but now returns to the Showboats to help them finish off this UFL season. He has posted 21 tackles with the Showboats over the past two seasons in the USFL/UFL.
