In addition to the three signings Birmingham made yesterday, they also cut three players. LB Maalik Hall, DB Chris Jackson, and K Chris Blewitt have all been let go.
Per @FOXSports, the @USFLStallions have made a number of roster moves:

It’s unfortunate to see Maalik Hall get released, as he didn’t get much of an opportunity to prove himself on this roster. He was cut in Training Camp last year, but got brought back midway through the year due to injuries. Maalik primarily saw action on special teams – and even then, he didn’t see the field much. Hall was re-signed for 2025, but now gets cut with the latest additions of Tae Crowder and Kyahva Tezino to the linebacker room.
Chris Jackson isn’t a surprising cut, at all. He was a starter for Birmingham to begin the year, but really struggled in coverage. Jackson ended up seeing action in just four games, getting injured against DC – and was stuck on IR for the majority of the year. He totaled 15 tackles this season with the Stallions. Jackson was in a secondary that picked up a lot of talent this offseason, and simply didn’t do enough last season to justify maintaining his roster spot.

Finally, kicker Chris Blewitt has been let go. It’s tough to see Chris get the axe, as it appears that he will not be able to compete with new signing Harrison Mevis in Training Camp. Blewitt was injured for the majority of the regular season in Birmingham, but came back for the postseason and played well. He was 8-9 on field goals in the season, and also knocked through a couple of kicks in the Championship game. Chris has previous spring football experience with the Pittsburgh Maulers as well.
While it’s unclear as to who the new general manager is in Birmingham, it’s certainly clear that changes are being made. Even though it was a Championship roster in 2024, there is always room for improvement – which is exactly that the Stallions are doing as they prepare to play for their fourth straight Championship in spring football.
What are your thoughts on Maalik Hall and Chris Jackson getting cut? Should Chris Blewitt have the opportunity to compete in camp? Let us know down in the comments below, or join the conversation on Discord!
