Arizona Cardinals Signing USFL Stallions Star WR Davion Davis

Stallions Davion Davis Signs To Arizona Cardinals Practice Squad

Davion Davis is headed back to the NFL. After a preseason stint with the Arizona Cardinals, Davis is making his way back to Arizona as a part of the Cardinals’ practice squad.

Davis joins five other Birmingham Stallions from the 2023 team in the NFL: quarterback Alex McGough (Green Bay), wide receiver Austin Watkins (Cleveland), defensive tackle Khalil Davis (Houston Texans), cornerback Matt Hankins (Los Angeles Chargers), and kicker Brandon Aubrey (Dallas).

Davis certainly earned this opportunity. He was a top wide receiver in the USFL, finishing the regular season with 39 catches for 575 yards—second to only Corey Coleman. His 14.7 yards per catch was top five in the league as was his four receiving touchdowns. He also had the second-longest catch in the USFL: 71 yards.

Davis was even more dominant in the postseason, catching eight of eight targets for 130 yards and three touchdowns.

Week after week, Davis shined for the Stallions. He developed a special chemistry with league MVP Alex McGough, which translated into big play after big play. That big play potential continued right into the NFL preseason. In the Cardinals match against the Vikings, Davis had a highlight reel grab.

This came as no surprise to Stallions fans, who were used to seeing such performances from Davis.

Final Thoughts

Now, Davis will get another opportunity to cement his place as part of the Cardinals organization. After the signing, Davis expressed his appreciation for the Birmingham Stallions organization and fans.

It is incredible to see so many USFL players getting these opportunities. This is why the league exists and is so important. Hopefully we will continue to get more of these stories as the NFL season goes on.
