St. Louis Battlehawks Sign WR Darion Chafin In UFL Free Agency

The St. Louis Battlehawks made another addition to their wide receiver room, signing Darion Chafin this weekend. With UFL training camp getting under way, Dave Boller and Anthony Becht brought in one final face to compete for a roster spot.

Darion Chafin played his college football mainly at Incarnate Word, but started at Cisco College. During his time at Cisco, he played in 15 games through two seasons, totaling 814 yards and eight touchdowns.

From there, Chafin moved to Incarnate Word, and proved to be a valuable addition to their offense. In 2020, he had 373 yards and four touchdowns in just six games.

Each year, his numbers got better. In 2021, Darion posted 771 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 13 games played. Then, in 2022 with Lindsay Scott Jr. as his quarterback, he compiled an outstanding 1,244 yards and 18 touchdowns in 14 games.

His 2022 season put him on the radar of multiple NFL organizations, as Chafin averaged almost 89 yards per game that season. He earned 2022 All-American Third Team, 2022 Southland All-Conference First Team and 2022 Phil Steele All-America Team honors due to his efforts.

Since then, Darion has been trying to find his footing in the professional scene. He had workouts with the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers last summer, but hasn’t been able to sign with an NFL team yet. Chafin was actually drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL rookie draft last year.

The St. Louis Battlehawks are now locked and loaded for UFL training camp. Anthony Becht has a full team of 75 players, and will have to find a way to cut down an extremely talented room for the regular season. Right now, the Battlehawks roster the following wide receivers:

Jamarcus Bradley
Darrius Shepherd
Marcell Ateman
Jerome Kapp
James Bostic
Jeff Thomas
Darion Chafin
Hakeem Butler
