St. Louis Battlehawks Re-Sign Veteran LB Drew Lewis

The St. Louis Battlehawks made another addition defensively on Monday. LB Drew Lewis has re-signed to the roster, after spending this past season in St. Louis.

When it comes to spring football, not many have been around the block more than Lewis. Drew Lewis played in the XFL back in the 2020 season, with the Houston Roughnecks. In five games, he totaled 17 tackles.

From there, Lewis ended up in the USFL in 2022, playing for the Gamblers. That year, he posted 13 tackles. Lewis moved to the XFL in 2023, starting out with the San Antonio Brahmas, and finishing with the Houston Roughnecks.

During the 2023 XFL season, Lewis compiled 24 tackles and a sack with the Brahmas and the Roughnecks. He was left as a free agent during the USFL-XFL merger process, but eventually found a home in St. Louis during Training Camp, after an injury knocked Johnny Buchanan out for the season.

While Drew was originally released during final cutdowns, he was able to make his way back to the Battlehawks roster midway through the season as they dealt with more injuries. He didn’t see much action, but did notch a few tackles on special teams. Lewis missed the postseason due to an injury suffered in week 10.

With Mike Rose, Lakiem Williams, and Elijah Lee yet to re-sign, Drew might have the opportunity to see a larger role in St. Louis in 2025. Of course, there’s still plenty of time left in UFL free agency – so anything can happen.
