After what’s been a quiet couple of months for the St. Louis Battlehawks, they’ve finally made some moves. On Friday, the Battlehawks re-signed four players – three on the offensive side of the ball, with one defender returning as well.
RB Kevon Latulas
Kevon Latulas is back in The Lou – which is excellent news for this offense. With All-UFL standout Jacob Saylors sticking on the Detroit Lions practice squad for the time being, Kevon is someone who’s flashed legitimate potential for St. Louis – and now may have more of a chance to shine in 2026.
Latulas was an XFL Rookie Draft pick by the Battlehawks back in 2023. He joined St. Louis for a short time late in the 2024 UFL season, primarily taking his snaps on special teams.
In 2025, Kevon made the roster in camp – and took full advantage of his minutes during the final couple weeks of the season. Latulas rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on just 23 carries, averaging 6.0 YPC. He boasted a strong 88.3 Offensive Grade via PFF, across the three games he played in.
Latulas played his college football at Missouri State. Across his three years there, Kevon compiled 1,029 rushing yards alongside six touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 7.15 YPC in college. Additionally, Kevon made an impact through the air, with 458 receiving yards and 4 TD’s. He’s got burst, speed, and vision – three assets that any pro organization looks for in a RB signing.
WR Jerome Kapp
The special teams ace is back. Jerome Kapp has re-signed for a third season with the Battlehawks, following what has been a productive couple of campaigns with St. Louis. Kapp has carved out a niche for himself within this special teams unit, finding ways to make plays in various forms throughout each and every game.
Jerome plays such a unique role for this St. Louis team. He didn’t record a single reception in 2025, let alone a target. However, he had 10 special teams tackles, something he’s taken quite a bit of pride in over the years.
As the first wide receiver to re-sign with St. Louis for 2026, maybe this is a sign of good things to come for Jerome. Anthony Becht has consistently praised Jerome for his work ethic – willing to do whatever it takes to help this team win, even if it means sitting on the bench during most offensive drives.
OL Bradley Ashmore
Bradley Ashmore was one of the Battlehawks 2024 College Draft picks who signed with the team – and made his presence known. Ashmore started in a couple of games for St. Louis in 2025, due to injuries at tackle. Bradley took snaps at both left and right tackle, allowing only four pressures and two sacks on 166 snaps.
As one of the younger prospects on this team, Bradley shows room for development and growth. He was targeted by multiple defenders this season when he was inserted into the lineup, which was evident in week six when he had to start in place of Juwann Bushell-Beatty. That said, now that he’s been in a pro system for a full season, we should expect higher quality play from Ashmore in 2026.
DE Shaka Toney
When Chris Garrett went to IR during the final week of the season, GM Dave Boller had to move quickly. He brought in DE Shaka Toney, a defensive end with NFL experience under his belt. Toney didn’t take any snaps for the Battlehawks, but provided depth in the playoffs at the position.
Toney played his college ball at Penn State, with 112 tackles and 20 sacks to his name during four seasons of action.
His success at Penn State resulted in the Washington Commanders selecting him in the 7th round of the 2021 NFL Draft, where he spent a couple of seasons. Shaka ended up posting 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks during his time there.
Most recently, Toney was with the Dallas Cowboys, after he was reinstated by the NFL. Shaka had been suspended back in 2022 for betting on NFL games. Considering that Travis Feeney and/or Pita Taumoepenu could choose to retire, Toney is a name to watch closely in camp this upcoming spring.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a quiet offseason for the St. Louis Battlehawks, aside from the release of QB Max Duggan. Max mutually parted ways with St. Louis, in order to sign a contract with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts.
For GM Dave Boller and HC Anthony Becht, the focus now shifts to the 2026 UFL season. They’ve seen several players make the leap to the NFL, meaning there will be holes to fill over the coming months.
