San Antonio Brahmas Sign Sam Tecklenburg & Kelechi Anyalebechi

Already in UFL training camp, the San Antonio Brahmas have seen some roster turnover. C Sam Tecklenburg and LB Kelechi Anyalebechi just signed with the team, to replace a couple of the pieces that did not report to camp.

C Sam Tecklenburg

Quality offensive lineman can be hard to come by in the spring football scene. Sam Tecklenburg is an excellent addition to this roster for San Antonio, bringing NFL experience to the room.

Tecklenburg played his college football at Baylor, and became a starter in 2017. Between 2017-2019, he started in all 39 games he played in.

Sam signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and remained with the team for a few years. Tecklenburg was active for 17 games across that span, starting in one of them. Now, he’ll look to strengthen the San Antonio Brahmas O-Line in the UFL.

LB Kelechi Anyalebechi

Kelechi Anyalebechi might be one of the most underrated signings of the entire offseason for any UFL team. Kelechi played the entirety of his collegiate football at Incarnate Word. During his first three years, he started in eight of 25 games.

However, Kelechi earned a starting role from 2021-2022, and was an absolute stud. Anyalebechi proved to be a tackling machine, totaling 244 tackles between those seasons. He also added four interceptions and 10 sacks to his resume with the Cardinals.

His strong campaign led to an NFL opportunity with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent the 2023 NFL preseason with the team, and racked up 10 tackles in three games. After his release, he most recently had a workout with the Carolina Panthers in October.

Kelechi Anyalebechi joins a stacked linebacker room in San Antonio. This group already features the likes of Delontae Scott, Drew Beesley, Tavante Beckett, Jordan Williams, and plenty of others. Given Kelechi’s talents and recent success, it would not be surprising to see him make the 50 man roster.

Final Thoughts

General Manager Marc Lillibridge has continually remodeled this Brahmas roster. He’s been able to bring a solid chunk of talent over from the Roughnecks, but has also pursued dozens of quality free agents – most of which have NFL experience.

In other news, the team also released OT Dareuan Parker. Parker had originally been signed by the Houston Roughnecks prior to the merger, and then was picked up in the Dispersal Draft by San Antonio. For now, he’ll remain a free agent as training camp begins.
