San Antonio Brahmas Sign RB Morgan Ellison, Eiland To IR

The San Antonio Brahmas, amidst some injuries, have added another running back. Morgan Ellison, the former Seattle Sea Dragon, has signed with the team.

Ellison is someone who instantly makes any UFL roster better. Ellison was with the Sea Dragons in 2023, and played quite well, although injuries hampered what was a productive season. He rushed for 254 yards and a touchdown, having one of the highest PFF grades of the year for Seattle.

He’s a downhill back, who has tremendous breakaway speed when he gets into open space. Morgan was originally picked up by the Arlington Renegades during the dispersal draft process, but surprisingly did not make it through the first round of cuts.

With John Lovett, Anthony McFarland, and Brycen Alleyne all producing nicely in San Antonio, it’ll be interesting to see how Ellison fits into A.J. Smith’s system.

Greg Eiland To IR

In other unfortunate news, the Brahmas lost another player to the injured reserve list. OL Greg Eiland is now likely done for the season, which is a tough blow. Eiland was a starter for their offensive line, playing in over 50 snaps during their first two games. Greg played 29 snaps in week three prior to suffering the injury.

Also, Offensive Coordinator A.J. Smith mentioned today in a media call that OL Chuck Filiaga was also injured, and would likely miss a few weeks.

Final Thoughts

For the San Antonio Brahmas, they will have to figure out how to navigate these rough waters early in the UFL season. After a 2-0 start, they lost to St. Louis this week, and then got news that starting QB Chase Garbers is likely done for the year.

General Manager Marc Lillibridge is likely cooking something up in order to replace Garbers, so keep an eye for some news on that end soon.
