San Antonio Brahmas Sign RB John Lovett In UFL Free Agency

The San Antonio Brahmas have made their first official move in UFL free agency. RB John Lovett, formerly with the Vegas Vipers, is signing to the team for training camp.

Lovett is an excellent pickup for Wade Phillips and the Brahmas, for multiple reasons. John is a dual-threat back, who put his skill sets on full display in Vegas. We know Offensive Coordinator AJ Smith loves to incorporate running backs into the passing game, which is something that Lovett does well.

With the Vipers, John Lovett posted 227 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He also added 269 receiving yards to his total tally, alongside two scores.

His XFL performances earned him an NFL opportunity with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lovett signed with Pittsburgh towards the end of July, but was released on August 28th as the team cut down their roster for the season.

After being a free agent for the past several months, John now finds a new home in the UFL, with the San Antonio Brahmas.

Final Thoughts

The Brahmas have a stacked RB room at the moment, which includes:

Brycen Alleyne
Chris Smith
Jaylen Samuels
Kalen Ballage
Marcus Cooper
Stevie Scott II

DPP Marc Lillibridge has brought in quite a few talented playmakers in the backfield. Training camp will be extremely competitive, as there won’t be room for all seven running backs on a 50 man roster.

As it stands right now, UFL teams must have their 75 man rosters set by February 14th. Coaches report on the 19th, and players report on the 23rd.
