San Antonio Brahmas Sign LB Rashod Berry

On Thursday, the San Antonio Brahmas made another addition to their defense. LB Rashod Berry has signed a Letter Of Intent with the franchise, looking to get his pro career back off the ground in the UFL.

Rashod Berry has had quite the story. He made his way to the NFL in 2020 – and has since spent time with the Patriots, Jaguars, Lions, and Colts.

In 2023, he was indefinitely suspended from the NFL due to breaking their gambling protocol. This led to his release from the Colts, and he’s since remained a free agent. Berry was reinstated to the NFL’s ranks in April, but did not gain much traction.

Now, Berry has an opportunity to rejuvenate his professional career with the San Antonio Brahmas. The Brahmas had one of the top defenses in the league in 2024, and continue to add quality pieces as the 2025 season approaches.

What makes Berry’s story so fascinating, is the fact that he began his career as a tight end. He was a TE at Ohio State, while also seeing some minutes on the defensive line. Across his time as a Buckeye, Berry totaled 198 receiving yards, and four touchdowns.

In the NFL, Rashod has primarily been utilized as an edge rusher. Throughout his NFL career, he’s compiled four tackles. Clearly, the Brahmas are looking to use him in the same vein, with Berry listed as a linebacker on the official press release.

Final Thoughts

The San Antonio Brahmas have been making some moves on the defensive side of the football. GM Marc Lillibridge has seen quite a bit of success in targeting former NFL talent – and Berry fits that mold. Most recently, though, they signed rookie DB Tyler Boatwright.
