San Antonio Brahmas Sign Free Agent DB Thakarius Keyes

The San Antonio Brahmas made another move in free agency this weekend, signing DB Thakarius Keyes as UFL training camp kicks off.

Thakarius Keyes played his college football at Tulane, and made an impact during the final two years of his career there. Across that span, Keyes totaled 85 tackles, and two interceptions. He also racked up 19 PBU’s while at Tulane.

Keyes has had an interesting journey since then. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL’s 2020 draft, in the seventh round. Thakarius was active for eight games with the team that season, posting eight tackles.

Since then, he has had a couple of NFL opportunities with the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. Keyes has also had multiple workouts, most recently with the Broncos, Steelers, and Jaguars.

Final Thoughts

Thakarius Keyes is clearly a talented corner, but will have his work cut out for him to make this roster in camp. The San Antonio Brahmas feature some of the top defenders in the UFL, in a revised secondary under the leadership of Wade Phillips and Marc Lillibridge.

This signing is likely due to a player who did not report to training camp with the Brahmas, as they had 75 on the roster prior to this weekend already. Just last week the team signed DE Kwabena Bonsu.
