Earlier this week the new XFL ownership group held their first town hall. During the event they officially announced all eight cities that will be hosting the league in 2023. Additionally, we learned all but one of the host venues. The outlier being the XFL Las Vegas franchise.
One thing that we did not learn during the town hall was the team names and logos. Dany Garcia and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson said that they wanted fans to “help shape the XFL”, but stopped short of explaining what that meant. Instead they said we should know more in the next few weeks.
One theory is that the league may look to the fans to help decide the team names. Others have pointed to their NFT and metaverse aspirations. Either way, it seems we’ll need to wait a bit longer to see what they have up their sleeves.
In the meantime, it looks like we may have a hint towards the Renegades branding returning to the XFL.

@XFLAnalyst shared an image from Instagram that shows the OC of the XFL Arlington franchise, Jay Hayes, responding to a post. In his response to the list of coaches, he states “Let’s Go Arlington Renegades.”Â
Clearly, this could be a case of Hayes assuming that the Arlington team will take on the namesake. At the same time, promotional matierals the league has put out for Arlington shares the same shade of blue as 2020.
Although it may seem like we’re behind schedule, the league waited until August of 2019 to reveal their team identites. If the new XFL ownership group follows that path, we should know the team names and logos in no time.
Do you think the new XFL ownership group should reband the teams or bring back the identites from 2020? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.
