Perrion Winfrey Returns To Stallions, Kings Gain OL Depth

On Wednesday, a couple more transactions hit the UFL’s wire. Notably, the Birmingham Stallions defense just got even scarier – as the team has re-signed All-UFL DT Perrion Winfrey.

Birmingham Stallions

The Stallions have brought back an interior terror: Winfrey is back. Perrion, who had a tremendous season with the Stallions a year ago, signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the entire season in the NFL, primarily on IR though due to a late injury suffered in camp. Expectations were that Perrion would be brought back for the 2026 campaign, but Dallas released him about a month ago.

With that in mind, it opened up the door for A.J. McCarron to bring Perrion back to Birmingham. Last year, he racked up 32 tackles and a sack, with 19 defensive stops to his name via PFF. Winfrey put up numbers almost every week – and even when he was ‘less productive’ – he was still making plays for teammates taking on double teams.

Perrion’s preseason was quite impressive in Dallas, which earned him a spot on the 53 man roster (prior to injury). Now, he’ll look to run it back in the UFL, with Birmingham.

In a corresponding move, Birmingham has released DT Isaiah Coe. Coe, the former Sooner, has been with the Battlehawks and Stallions – struggling to stick on a roster. It’s unfortunate for Isaiah that Perrion became available, because otherwise, he likely would have remained a Stallion.

Louisville Kings

The Kings signed OT Jaylon Thomas, boosting their offensive line unit that needs to see some growth heading into this weekend. While pass protection was respectable, Louisville could not run the football at all.

What makes Jaylon’s addition so intriguing is his ability to play all five positions. At SMU, Thomas has experience starting at every spot on the O-Line, including center. In 2022, he was named to the PFF All-AAC First Team, and he also earned Second-team All-AAC honors twice.

With his positional flexibility, look for Jaylon to get involved within Louisville’s offense over the next few weeks.

Final Thoughts

In other news, the DC Defenders have released OT Adrian Ealy. Adrian was a starter for Arlington the last two seasons, picked up by DC in the draft. He did not play any snaps for DC last week. With Yasir Durant back in the fold, Adrian finds himself on the outside looking in.
