DT Reggie Howard
Reggie Howard has been a key component to the New Orleans Breakers and their defense throughout two seasons. Interestingly enough, he began his USFL career in Tampa Bay, before being moved to New Orleans midway through 2022.
In the 2022 season, he finished with 30 tackles and five sacks between the two organizations, and earned All-USFL honors as one of the top defensive tackles in the league. Howard helped New Orleans obtain a playoff berth that year, after transitioning from Tampa Bay who ultimately failed to get in.

Reggie Howard maintained his dominance during 2023, albeit slightly overshadowed by the likes of Keonte Schad and Anree Saint-Amour. Regardless, Howard was solid, posting 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
With Reggie Howard returning for 2024, the New Orleans Breakers get to keep one of their most consistent defensive playmakers, which is excellent news.
LB Nigel Chavis
Nigel Chavis was a key piece to the Breakers defense in 2022. He saw action in all ten games, posting 37 tackles and a sack in what was an impressive year for the rookie out of Norfolk State.
During the 2023 season, Chavis only started one game, but made an impact within his limited minutes. Nigel finished with six total tackles this year. Heading towards 2024, he will look to build upon the last two seasons in the USFL.
DB Adonis Alexander
Adonis Alexander is back, setting up New Orleans for plenty more success in the secondary. Alexander played a crucial role during the team’s playoff run in 2022, registering 35 tackles and two interceptions in what was a sensational breakout year.

In 2023, Adonis started in seven of ten games for the Breakers. He finished the season with 18 total tackles. According to Pro Football Focus, Alexander was the highest graded New Orleans Breakers athlete of the 2023 season (80.2):
“Safety was one of the strongest positions in the USFL this season, and Adonis Alexander still stood out. He was one of only three at the position to face at least 20 targets in coverage and allow 10 or fewer catches.”
Now, Alexander returns for the 2024 season, poised to make even more waves next year.
