It wasn’t too long ago that the USFL revealed all eight head coaches for their upcoming 2022 season. Since then, we’ve seen some details come through on the coaching staffs for each of the teams, but not many.
Some coaches have been more vocal than others, but today we have a lot of names to go over. Thanks to breakersnation.insider on Instagram and Coach Fedora himself, we have the full coaching staff for the New Orleans Breakers.
Last month we reported that Mazzone would be joining the team, but that was the only name we knew until today.
Jim Turner comes in with a lot of experience that should definitely compliment Fedora. He’s spent time as OL coach for the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, and most recently at Texas State. All of which are exactly what you want in a supporting coach in a spring football league.
Pat Washington, a championship-winning coach with more than three decades of experience at the collegiate level, will come on to serve as the wide receivers coach. In over 35 years in the profession, Washington has been part of a BCS national championship at Tennessee in 1998, as well as six conference championships, 26 bowl games, 12 bowl wins and 13 double-digit-win seasons.
John Tenuta is another candidate that comes in with A LOT of experience. He’s spent time at Virginia, Maryland, Vanderbilt, SMU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati and most recently Virginia Tech. That list doesn’t even include half of his stops, but range dating back to 1981.
So far, it looks like Larry Fedora is picking a solid group to help him lead the charge this season with a mix of old and young. Now that the inaugural and supplemental drafts are complete, all eyes are on training camp which is set to begin March 21st.
With camps right around the corner, we expect to see more coaching staff confirmations in the near future as well.
