New Jersey Generals Sign FA Defensive End Jordan Lewis

The New Jersey Generals have been the most active team in free agency, and just signed another player. Jordan Lewis, a defensive end out of Southern University, is joining the team for the 2024 USFL campaign.

Lewis had an excellent career at Southern University. One of his standout seasons was in 2021, where he posted:

29 tackles
10 TFL
5.5 sacks

He did all of that in just nine games. This led to winning several awards that year, including:

2021 Buck Buchanan Award Winner, 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 AFCA 1st Team All-American, 2021 Boxtorow Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 Athlon Sports Spring FCS All American, 2021 Hero Sports All American, 2021 FCS Athletics Directors All Star Team & National Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 STATS PERFORM FCS 1st Team All American.

Jordan Lewis also had a solid senior year, racking up 15 tackles, 5.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks in 2022. His speed and agility make him a versatile defensive end, and one who can certainly benefit the New Jersey Generals in the trenches.

During his first season as Southern Head Coach, Eric Dooley said that Lewis went “far and beyond my expectations.”

Now, Jordan Lewis will continue his football career with the pros in the USFL. New Jersey has been busy re-signing players from the past two seasons, but they’ve also looked to new free agents. Just a couple of weeks ago, GM Billy Devaney brought in rookie RB Jalen Holston and DE Victor Jones.
