These are the 11th and 12th USFL players to re-sign with the New Jersey Generals. The team re-signed ten players earlier in the week (Thursday, Friday) – and now add two more back to the roster.
LB D’Juan Hines
D’Juan Hines was a tackling machine for the New Jersey Generals this season. Paired up with Chris Orr, the duo was sensational in the middle of the field.

Hines posted 75 tackles, one TFL, 0.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 2023. He’s been an excellent linebacker for New Jersey through the course of the past two seasons. In 2022, he racked up 78 tackles alongside a sack. Having him back for 2024 is great news for this defensive unit.
S Shalom Luani
Despite dealing with injuries during the 2023 season, Shalom Luani was a consistent safety for New Jersey when healthy. Luani is one of the hardest hitting safeties in the league, providing fans with bone-crushing hits time and time again over the past two years.
Shalom Luani has re-signed with the @USFLGenerals, which means that we'll have another USFL season full of hard hits like these.

Luani had a productive year in 2023, registering 44 tackles, two TFL, and an interception. If he can stay healthy during the 2024 season, New Jersey’s defense will primed to get back to the dominance we saw from this group in 2022.
Final Thoughts
It’s excellent to see so many quality athletes returning to the USFL for another season. As previously mentioned in prior articles, Mike Riley and Billy Devaney have done a solid job of retaining top tier talent in New Jersey. After a 3-7 record in 2023, the focus shifts to 2024 to pursue another playoff run similar to 2022.
