New England Patriots Sign Generals OL Micah Vanterpool

New England Patriots Sign Generals OL Micah Vanterpool

The New Jersey Generals have their first USFL to NFL signing of this offseason. Offensive lineman Micah Vanterpool has signed with the New England Patriots, per source.

Vanterpool is a bit of an asterisk, considering he never played a down for New Jersey. He was signed by the team on June 5th, but was inactive for the two final games of the season.

Micah Vanterpool played his college ball at Hawaii, and was fantastic. He started all 13 games in 2022 at right guard, and didn’t allow a single sack on over 500 snaps. Vanterpool was the only offensive lineman in his conference to accomplish that.

His efforts earned himself All-Mountain West second team honors in 2022.

After a successful workout with the New England Patriots, Vanterpool has officially signed with the team. He is one of two USFL athletes to sign with the Patriots, as Birmingham Stallions RB CJ Marable just signed as well.

The New Jersey Generals haven’t seen too much NFL action this offseason. Long snapper Jordan Ober received a workout with the Arizona Cardinals, but that’s been about the extent of it.

Had it not been for the platform – and the national exposure – that the USFL provided him with, who knows if this opportunity would have come along.
