On Thursday, the Michigan Panthers waived both RB Raymond Calais, and TE Nick Guggemos. Neither saw any snaps for the Panthers this UFL season.

Raymond Calais signed with the Michigan Panthers back in November. Calais has had quite the journey in the pro football scene. He bounced around between the Buccaneers and Rams in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl with Los Angeles. Raymond also spent a bit of time with the XFL’s DC Defenders in 2023.
However, Calais was moved to the Suspended List in early March, and remained there ever since. Now, he’ll once again become a free agent with his release from Michigan.
Nick Guggemos was a tight end prospect that was placed on the injured reserve list in Training Camp. Nick had a rather strange college career, recording just one reception for eight yards at St. Thomas. He dealt with many injuries in college. This didn’t stop him from earning interest with multiple NFL organizations, prior to landing with the Michigan Panthers.
The Michigan Panthers now have some roster spots open. WR Marcus Simms just signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and with these two latest movements on the waiver wire, the Panthers will have openings heading into free agency.
