Obinna Eze brings a lot of quality experience to the Michigan Panthers offense. He played the majority of his college ball at Memphis, starting in 25 straight games between 2019-2020.
From there, Eze finished his collegiate career at Texas Christian University (TCU). Obinna once again made an impact, starting in all eleven games. His excellent play earned him a 2021 Honorable-Mention Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year nomination.
Since then, Obinna has spent some time with a couple of different NFL teams. He was with the Detroit Lions in preseason the past two years. Then, he signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad – but was released on October 25th.
Most recently, Eze had a workout with the Green Bay Packers. Now, he’s headed to the Michigan Panthers for the 2024 USFL (UFL?) season.
GM Steve Kazor has continued to build out the roster throughout this offseason. While the USFL-XFL merger is approaching, the Panthers are a team who many expect to be a part of the new league, especially since Ford Field was locked in for 2024.
Regardless of what happens, the Michigan Panthers will look to improve upon their 4-6 record next year. The team has yet to have a season above the .500 mark in the modern USFL.
Considering the offensive line struggles in 2023, fans should be very excited about this signing specifically.
