Michigan Panthers Sign Free Agent WR Samson Nacua For 2024 | Devin Ross

Michigan Panthers Re-Sign Samson Nacua, Devin Ross To IR

The Michigan Panthers have brought back a familiar face, due to injury. Samson Nacua has re-signed with the team, following WR Devin Ross being placed on injured reserve.

It’s an unfortunate loss for the Panthers to see Ross go down. Devin was a key piece to this offense through two weeks, and led the team with two receptions for 42 yards in week one.

Ross did so much for the Panthers, not just as a wide receiver, but also as a returner on special teams. Sadly, it was special teams that led to his injury, which evidently involved his left hamstring.

On the bright side, it doesn’t appear that this will be a season ending event for Devin. We’re told that he should be back in action by week eight, give or take.

As for Samson Nacua, it isn’t a surprise that Michigan brought him back. Nacua was with the Panthers during training camp, and made it all the way through until the final cuts down to 50 were made.

Samson is the brother of defensive back Kai, as the Nacua ties run strong in Michigan. Nacua is not new to the spring football scene, having been with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023. He played in two games for the team before being released a couple of weeks into the season.

Given the injury to Ross, Nacua was likely on speed dial for the Panthers. Garett Maag and Dezmon Patmon had already signed CFL contracts, and Lance Lenoir Jr. is not fully healthy.

Final Thoughts

For the Michigan Panthers, they’re going to have to hope they see some more production in the WR room sooner or later. John Hightower missed this past week with an injury, and newly signed Siaosi Mariner has yet to see the field.

Nacua is currently on the inactive roster, and probably won’t be activated for week three, but if Hightower isn’t ready to go, we’ll have to wait and see.

The Panthers host the Houston Roughnecks this Sunday, at 12pm ET on ABC.
