Michigan Panthers Re-Sign DT Walter Palmore For 2024

The Michigan Panthers have re-signed DT Walter Palmore ahead of the 2024 season. After seeing multiple players take advantage of NFL opportunities the past couple of days, GM Steve Kazor continues to make an effort to bring key pieces back.

Walter Palmore has been with the Michigan Panthers for the last two USFL seasons. In 2022, he posted 17 total tackles for Michigan’s defensive line. This year, he was solid in the trenches, compiling 26 tackles in ten games (three starts).

Michigan will look to continue to strengthen their defensive line. DE Breeland Speaks has garnered plenty of NFL interest, and there’s no guarantee that he will be back next year.

Walter Palmore has had quite the career so far. His senior season at Missouri was excellent, posting 31 tackles and a sack.

Since then, he’s been on a few NFL rosters, seeing stints with the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers. In addition, he played for the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks in 2020.

So far, the Michigan Panthers have brought back:

OL Joshua Dunlop
OL Keith Williams
S Sean Mahone
DT Walter Palmore

They also signed TE Gunnar Oakes, who was a draft pick in the 2023 USFL Collegiate Draft.

The Panthers will look to build upon their 4-6 record in 2023. While the team did make the postseason, it wouldn’t have been possible without a late surge from QB EJ Perry. His potential return will make or break how this team performs next season.
