Memphis Showboats Sign WR Josh Vann In UFL Free Agency

While the Memphis Showboats wide receiver room is already loaded with talent, the team has signed WR Josh Vann, bringing even more depth to the organization.

Josh spent his entire college career at South Carolina, starting in 21 of 56 games played there. He registered 1,352 receiving yards, alongside 10 touchdowns. Vann comes in at 5’10”, 190 lbs.

Josh Vann saw a lot of production during the 2021 season, where he racked up 679 yards and five scores on 43 receptions. This led to him earning 2021 Steve Spurrier Award honors, alongside being named to the 2021 Fourth-Team All-SEC (Phil Steele).

On top of his contributions as a receiver, Vann also has some experience as a punt returner (19 returns, 234 yards).

Coming out of college, Josh Vann was signed to the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent. He spent the preseason with the team, recording one reception for 21 yards in their loss against the New York Giants.

Now, Vann will look to officially kick start his career in the UFL, with the Memphis Showboats.

Final Thoughts

It’s been a busy offseason for the Memphis Showboats, who made the jump in the USFL-XFL merger. The team now has a new Head Coach in John DeFilippo (Breakers), and joining him is GM Dennis Polian.

The two have constructed one of the most talented teams in the league, picking up quite a few big names throughout the dispersal draft process – and, in UFL free agency. Most recently, the Showboats added QB Troy Williams, who helped lead the Pittsburgh Maulers to the 2023 USFL Championship.

With the schedule officially released today, the excitement for the UFL season continues to grow. Memphis will kick off their season in Houston, against the Roughnecks on March 31st.
