Memphis Showboats Sign OT James Tunstall In UFL Free Agency

Offensive line movement has been a consistent staple in the UFL as training camp begins. The Memphis Showboats signed OT James Tunstall in free agency, who will compete for a roster spot over the coming weeks.

Tunstall has had a long journey to get to where he is now. He began his college career at Connecticut, playing in five games across two seasons.

From there, he transferred to Stony Brook, and started in 11 of 12 games in 2019. This put him on the radar of some other big name schools, and he eventually landed in Cincinnati in 2021.

Across two seasons with the Bearcats, Tunstall started in 24 of 27 games played. He had an exceptional 2022 season, starting all 13 games at left tackle – earning All-AAC Second Team honors.

Coming out of college, James Tunstall signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. He spent the preseason with the team, and now lands in the United Football League as they look to kick off the inaugural season.

Final Thoughts

The Memphis Showboats added some impressive names throughout this offseason to the roster. A couple that immediately come to mind are Case Cookus and Darius Victor. Those two have seen tremendous success in the USFL the past two years.

However, they will not be able to produce without a solid offensive line. With a couple of these latest additions in James Tunstall – and also Darta Lee – the Showboats are building what should be a solid line of defense for their offensive playmakers.
